My theoretical model is psychodynamic which focuses not just on the symptoms, problems and issues which people develop, but also on the underlying thoughts, feelings and conflicts which may be causing or contributing to these problems.

I will work with you to help you get in touch with the real difficulties which, if not properly understood and worked through, may lead to repeating painful experiences, which often make people feel depressed, angry, hopeless and powerless.

I firmly believe that effective counselling is determined by the strength of the therapeutic relationship between the client and the counsellor. Being truly heard, understood and accepted can be a powerful catalyst for change.

About Me

My name is Amanda Burns

I am a fully qualified counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My counselling space is designed to be supportive, providing you with a nurturing environment to explore your concerns. I offer a listening ear, empathy, and understanding, ensuring you feel heard and validated throughout the therapeutic process.

I respect your individuality, values, and beliefs. My approach is rooted in respect, honouring your unique experiences and perspectives. I foster a non-judgmental and accepting atmosphere, where you can freely express yourself and feel valued for who you are.

I view mental well-being as a continuum, recognising that everyone experiences challenges and distressing thoughts at some point in their lives. Whether you're struggling with problematic feelings or facing a loss of confidence, I am here to provide guidance and support along the way.
